Which meters are recalled?
GlucoGauge meters with serial numbers that start with 20806, distributed in North and South America. No other serial numbers are part of this recall.
Why are they being recalled?
These meters may give inaccurate blood sugar readings. An inaccurate reading can lead to a wrong treatment decision and serious harm. Matterhorn Health has received reports of serious health events, including deaths, among people using these meters. The reports are being reviewed with health authorities.
Where is the serial number?
On the label on the back of the meter and on the side of the box. If you cannot find or read it, treat the meter as recalled and contact us.
Does the replacement cost anything?
No. The replacement meter and the return shipping are free.
When will my replacement arrive?
Most replacements ship right away. Some may take up to two weeks while production increases. Until yours arrives, test with another meter.
My serial number does not start with 20806.
Your meter is not part of this recall. As with any meter, if a reading is below 80 mg/dL or does not match how you feel, confirm it a second way before you dose insulin.
Where were the recalled meters made?
They were produced at a contract manufacturing facility in Shanghai. Production for Matterhorn at that facility is paused while the review is under way. Replacement meters come from other facilities.
